This perfectly beautiful song is quite simple in it’s structure and melody. I have added in some harmony which don’t exist in the original track so watch out.
If you are YELLOW or GREEN you will sing the song from start to finish as it’s sung on the original recording, You hold the main melody. May may now go and have a cup of tea to celebrate.
REDS – you have a higher harmony line starting at around 1.37. We all sing in unison ‘If I lay here’ and then you split to a higher part for ‘If I just lay here, would you lie with me and just forget the world’. Then again in unison for ‘forget what we’re told’ and split for ‘before we get too old, show me a garden that’s burning into life’. It’s important to keep your eyes on me and I’ll show you when to come in with harmonies very clearly with my gestures. You take exactly the same harmony again from 2.49 with the same lines all the way down until ‘thing will never change for us at all’. We then come back to unison for the final 3 lines.
PINK ladies (if you’re not sure if that’s you, then it probably isn’t. There are only 4 or 5 of them and they’re very special and high in the sky).
You’re additional harmony comes on ‘all that I ever was…’. Up until this point you’ve been singing the red part. You sing this again up until ‘things will never change for us at all’ and then the last 3 lines are in unison please.
BLUES. Your harmony comes at around 2.49 on the second page where we are singing ‘if I lay here, if I just lay here etc’ and you move entirely differently to the other singers. You get your harmony part 4 times ending at ‘just know that these things will never change for us at all’ and then the last 3 lines are in unison. This is the trickiest part – do please have a listen and make sure you’ve had a go!
